icanname is operated by peanutgames. This policy explains what information is used when you play and the choices available to you.

The short version

icanname has no player accounts, advertising, analytics, or tracking pixels. If you allow score saving, game information stays in your browser on your device. Most answers are checked on your device. If an answer is not in the local pack, your browser may send that answer phrase to Wikipedia for checking. peanutgames does not receive your answers, scores, streak, or local game history.

Information stored on your device

If you choose “Allow score saving,” icanname uses browser local storage for:

Game progressYour pending wager and deadline, active round, accepted answers, and countdown timestamps, so refreshing does not restart either clock.
Results and statisticsYour scores, streak, personal best, and recent game history.
Privacy preferenceA record that you allowed local score saving, so the notice does not appear on every visit.

If you select “Never show this briefing again,” icanname saves a separate browser preference that records only whether to skip the pre-game briefing. This preference may be saved even if you play without score saving because selecting it is a specific request to remember that choice.

If you choose “Play without saving,” these details remain only in the current page while it is open. Refreshing or closing the page can erase the current round and statistics.

Local storage is not transmitted to peanutgames. Anyone with access to your browser profile may be able to view or clear it.

Hosting and answer checking

icanname is delivered through Firebase Hosting, a Google service. When your device requests the site, Google may process technical information needed to deliver and protect the service, such as your IP address, browser or device information, request date and time, requested URL, and referrer information.

That processing is governed by the Firebase privacy information and Google Privacy Policy. Firebase may process information using infrastructure in multiple countries.

If a submitted answer is not recognized by the local answer pack, your browser may send the answer phrase to the English Wikipedia Action API. The Wikimedia Foundation may receive that phrase and standard request information such as your IP address, browser information, and request time. This check does not require a Wikipedia account. Learn more in the Wikimedia Foundation Privacy Policy.

How information is used

Sharing

peanutgames does not receive your locally saved game information and therefore cannot share it. Technical hosting information may be processed by Google, and unrecognized answer checks may be processed by Wikimedia, as described above. Information may also be disclosed if required by law or reasonably necessary to protect the game, its players, peanutgames, or the public.

Children

icanname is a general-audience game and does not ask for a name, age, email address, or account. Players should enter category answers only and should not type personal information into the answer field. Children should not send personal information to the contact address. A parent or guardian who believes a child has sent personal information may contact peanutgames so the request can be reviewed and addressed.

Changes to this policy

This policy may change as the game or its services change. The effective date at the top will be updated when material changes are made. If a future version introduces accounts, analytics, advertising, or new data uses, this policy and the consent experience should be updated before those features are enabled.
